Itumeleng joined the Ministry of Communications, Science & Technology in 2004 as Chief Communications Officer/Deputy Director from the Department of Broadcasting Services where he had served for 26 years.
Itumeleng functions as Director for Telecommunications and Postal Services in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, a position he holds since re-joining the Civil Service in 2016 after retiring in 2010.
He was also instrumental in developing the Digital Set Top Box (STB) technical specifications to be used in the type approval of the STBs in Botswana, and offered expertise assisting SADC countries during the Digital Terrestrial Television Migration.
Some of the major achievements after re-joining the civil service includes the National Broadband Strategy approval, National Cyber Security Strategy Development and Amalgamation of Botswana Post and Botswana Couriers and Logistics into now Botswana Postal Services Limited.
